Do you need Visio to do a simple A3 Storyboard? Not necessarily. Excel can create formatted blocks, insert pictures and handle the text.
One thing I do recommend is to create a storyboard template, by selecting “Template” in the Save As Type drop-down box in the Save As dialog box. You can then add different content from the template at will.
Have you ever wanted to split the contents of an Excel cell? For example, you get a list of names with both the first and last name in the same column, and you want them in their own cells? Text-to-Columns is your answer for dividing the contents of an Excel cell.
This is not the same thing as dividing an Excel cell- which you can’t do. (No soup for you!)
But if you are trying to have a cell half the size of the cells around it (or a quarter of the size, or whatever you like) you can simply merge and center all of the cells around the smaller cell. So if you wanted cells B1 and B2 to be half the size of A1 and C1, you would merge and center A1 with A2, and C1 with C2, leaving B1 and B2 seemingly half-sized cells.
The only other option is to place a text-box or image of some sort in the cell so it seems to divide it, but you lose functionality that way.
AutoFill is one of Microsoft Excel’s most convenient features, but there are times when you want to copy an item in a list without filling the series. Simply select the first item, “January”, for example, then just hold down the control (CTRL) button while dragging the fill handle. January will fill to the cells, instead of the sequence of months (February, March, etc.) that normally would.
Recently, I went to the DMV to renew my license. I failed the eye exam and had to get glasses for the first time in my life. Are glasses the only way to see Excel sheet tabs better? There’s no control in Excel that will do it.
That’s why you have to adjust your system settings to do it. Right click on your desktop, select properties, click appearance, and select advanced. You will see a drop-down box labeled item- simply select the scrollbar item and increase it’s size. For some reason unkown to mere mortals, sheet tabs are affected along with the scrollbars in windows- the only trick is to balance how much you increase it, as all scrollbars will also increase in size.
